The annual St. Florence School Cycle Ride on Friday coincided more closely with the end of the school year and was blessed with a superb sunny day and as a result, there was an exceptionally good turnout of more than 50 pupils, staff and parents. What was particularly pleasing was the support of the parents and it was clear that they enjoyed the ride every bit as much as the pupils. Tenby Police sent their new compact town patrol vehicle to help and this created a great deal of interest. The ride set off with the patrol vehicle in support of the first group of the younger pupils. The main group of the senior pupils gave the younger ones a five minute start and then headed off in pursuit past the school to West Jordanston, where once again Kerry was there with a 'stall' providing welcome refreshments for every rider. The groups returned to the village and to the Village Hall where a barbecue was organised by members of the FOFSS. Everyone enjoyed the evening sunshine and the lovely picnic atmosphere on the playing field. As always, events like this depend on lots of support from parents, school staff and friends of the school to provide organisers, road marshals, refreshments and so on. Heartfelt thanks go to all of these helpers.
