It has been a busy time in the Primary Schools Football calendar. On Thursday, May 1, the Pembrokeshire Primary Schools Football Festival was played at Greenhill Comprehensive School, Tenby. Twenty schools attended and in brilliant sunshine served up a treat of excellent football played in the spirit of good sportsmanship.
In both the Large School and Small School competitions, the finals went to extra-time providing a nail-biting climax to the day. As anxious teachers and parents looked on, Hakin Junior School scored the all-important 'golden goal' in the Large Schools' final to defeat Tenby Junior School.
In the Small Schools' final, Roch CP School grabbed the 'golden-goal' in the final minute of extra-time to leave St. Mary's RC School as runners-up.
Trophies and medals were awarded by Mr. Phil Thompson, of Texaco, and Welsh international footballer Laura Roberts to the players to end what had been a very enjoyable day for all.
