Summer sunshine came just at the right time for walkers taking part in the annual Coast Path Walk, arranged by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority.

In 14 energetic days, the walk party only had one morning of rain - for the rest of the time the Pembrokeshire coast was at its brilliant and sunny best.

Each year the Park Authority organises the annual walk along all 186 miles of the Path, from Amroth to Poppit Sands. Park voluntary wardens take on the leadership and support roles.

Leaders were Rob Knowles, Derek Rowland and Kim Jameson, with Cled Davies and Mary Rowland providing the back-up vehicle. Fran Vickery, who was completing her third Coast Path walk in succession, took a photographic record.

The majority of the walkers were from West Wales, but were joined by an Australian woman and a journalist who is researching for a book on the Coast Path.

At the finish at Poppit Sands, well-earned walk certificates were presented by National Park Authority member, Clr. Robin Evans.

Said Rob Knowles: "We had a wonderful walk. In my 13 times of taking part in the Coast Path walk, this was the best ever weather, and this group was one of the fittest to take on the challenge.

"As ever, we enjoyed passing on stories and legends associated with the coastline, plus information on the geology and history - not only among our group, but to other walkers we met." • For further information contact David Matthews, National Park Field Education Officer, on 0845 345 7275.
