Although summer has arrived, the weather cannot be guaranteed, so Yorkshire Building Society have come up with a scheme designed to spread some sunshine to local communities across the UK.

The society's Charitable Foundation has earmarked over £40,000 to be given away and are asking members of the public to nominate charities and good causes that they would like to benefit.

Each branch, including Tenby, has been allocated a share of the fund and can donate this to either one, or many causes, within the local community.

Linda Will, trustee of the foundation said: "Yorkshire Building Society is committed to being a valuable part of the community and today (Friday), all its branches will be holding a Community Day. Customers and members of the public are invited to call in with suggestions on how to spend the donation."

Linda continued: "We held a similar scheme in November last year which was a huge success and enabled us to help over 300 causes. On repeating the scheme, the trustees were pleased to donate a larger pot of money and are looking forward to receiving lots of nominations. Hopefully, with the help of the public, we'll be able to support even more good causes."
