Expect a sizzling summer this year with a summer festival that's expected to go off with a bang.

The West Wales Summer Festival and Firework Championship is taking place at the Carmarthen Show Ground on August 22, and will be packed with a host of celebrities, along with exciting activities for all the family to have a great day out.

During the day, the festival will feature a huge funfair, stalls and demonstrations. Don't miss the opportunity to win a £20,000 Saab in the 'safe cracker' competition. Trade stands will be a big feature of the day, with exhibitors including the RAC, Riverlea Tractors, Green Bower, Wise Buys and the Dyfed-Powys Police.

For the kids, a ride on the only Thomas Tank Engine in Britain will be a must, along with Punch and Judy, free face painting and balloon modelling with the ever popular Juggle Struck.

Music and entertainment will be provided by Swansea Sound Roadshow and the Abba Revolution tribute band.

A bungee jump is being organised for the event, with a live broadcast of the presenters jump. The organisers are currently looking for 60 volunteers, so if bungee is for you, contact Chris on (01834) 861902.

And the fun will just keep going on. The evening will feature a dramatic laser show, followed by the largest firework display yet seen in Wales. The Welsh Firework Championship will bring together pyrotechnics from the top professionals in a 30-minute firework extravaganza, to decide the Welsh Firework Champion for 2001.

Admission is £5 for adults, £3 for children plus concessions. Profits from this fun-packed day will go to local and national charities. The West Wales Summer Festival and Firework Championship is a day not to be missed!
