Cantorion Llanddowror completed another successful year under the leadership of Mrs. Elizabeth Jameson and Mrs. Celia Moorse as very able accompanist. At Christmas time, the choir visited several homes for the elderly and as usual the staff and residents warmly received them. At Easter, several members of the choir, together with members of St. David's Meidrim Church, worked very hard to learn and present The Cross of Christ, which was well received by the congregation at St. David's, Meidrim, and at St. Teilo, Llanddowror. On July 4, the choir met for their now annual concert at St. Teilo. The guest soloist was Mrs. Ann Hill Thomas from Carmarthen. Mrs. Hill Thomas trained at The Welsh School of Music and Drama. She was a protégé of Ivor Novello and started her musical career at the age of 10. She now undertakes leading roles with the Carmarthen Operatic Society. Among her repertoire were Nant y Mynydd and Some Day My Heart Will Awake, which were very enthusiastically received by the audience. Anyone with an interest in music would be very welcome to join them. They meet at St. Teilo's Church, Llanddowror, every Wednesday evening at 7.30 pm and practice will begin again at the beginning of September.
