Springboard, a Learning Pembrokeshire project which runs a wide range of free and exciting courses for adults and children, was successfully launched at Golden Grove School in Pembroke last week.

The launch was described by headteacher Leslie Johnson as 'an outstanding success'.

"What a turnout!" he said. "There were literally hundreds of parents and children queuing up to take part in all the fun free workshops that Springboard had coordinated."

"No one had anticipated the event attracting so many people", added Julie Davies, one of the senior managers at the school.

Since the fayre, Springboard has been quick to set up a series of free courses at Golden Grove - some for adults and some for families. One of the courses, Mosaics Magic has proved a real hit with parents and children alike.

Shelley Holmes, Springboard's advisor for Golden Grove, has received excellent feedback on all the courses so far.

"The children are so excited about our family classes, they even want to cut short their lunch break in order to come early!" she said.

Springboard's coordinator, Laura Phillips, is confident that the project will go from strength to strength at Golden Grove. New courses are already being planned for after half-term.

Springboard's motto is 'Whatever helps adults and families get the most of learning, we'll run it!'
