Tenby Junior Netball Club recently helped to raise over £500 for Neurofibromatosis, a charity the coach, Delyth Truman, is running for at the London Marathon on April 22. The money was raised in two ways. The first was a Development Day held over the Christmas holidays in Tenby Leisure Centre, the facility being kindly donated by Robert Thomas, and the second was a sponsored shoot. Katy Evans received a prize for her fund-raising efforts, but a huge thanks must be given to all concerned. The club has had an extremely successful season this year, with huge numbers wanting to join and the team only losing one game. Such is the success of the squad, it is unlikely that they will be able to accept Year 3 pupils next season. They cannot cope with numbers and the difference in skill level between the four years. An obvious solution would be to develop coaches and split the age groups, with Years 3 and 4 having a separate session to Years 5 and 6. The development of the club looks promising, with the addition of the U14 club this season, who are also doing well in the Pembrokeshire League, and are coached by Karen Thomas and Linda Hensman. The end of season tournament is next month and the clubs will thenfinish until September. Anyone able to help with the running of the club in anyway can contact Delyth Truman or Tracy Scotcher, and anyone able to sponsor Delyth in the marathon can contact her on [email protected]">[email protected].
