On Thursday night, Narberth Under 9s played their final game of the cricket season against Kilgetty. Having played in softball festivals at Haverfordwest, Whitland and Crymych this, for most of them, was their first ever game of hardball cricket and they came through it with flying colours, winning by 18 runs. Pictured are Ffion James, Shay Pallas, Sam Perrett, Jamie Evans, Dylan Lewis, Jack Pallas, Llew Jones, Luke Llewellyn, Rhys Jones, Jay Jones, Robbie Williams, and coaches Steve Pallas, Rhodri Jones and Ceri Davies. This is the first time Narberth has ever had an Under 9s team, and with up to 30 children attending training each week, the future looks very promising. Many of the other players in the squad also played in the softball festivals, and they include: Matthew Evans, Natasha Evans, Alishia Evans, Tom Walters, Martha Walters, Lewys Evans, Rhys Evans, Ross Scrivens, Hedd Jenkins-Lovidge, Morgan Lewis, Sean Coaker, William Coney, Harry Jones, Morgan Short, Nathan Short, Ewan Meredith, Aimee Hughes, Beatrice Bowen-Rees, Jordan Thomas and Rhys Thomas. Finally, a special thank you must go to our sponsor, John Mathias, of Busy Bees Nursery, Cold Blow. This is the second season that John has sponsored T- shirts for the junior teams and everyone in the Under 9s was very proud to play for one of the smartest turned out teams in the county! The junior cricket presentation afternoon is due to take place on Sunday, September 10, from 3 pm onwards. All players and supporters are welcome.
