More than 400 people joined in with the coastal celebrations at Gupton Farm on the weekend as National Trust hosted its Festival of the Sea. The conservation charity welcomed record event numbers to the farm, with the campsite fully booked for the festival.

The inaugural event, which was run in partnership with the Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company, featured a series of seaside activities at the farm and nearby Freshwater West to raise awareness of coastal conservation and how we all have a part to play.

Visitors made the most of the coast with an early morning beach clean run by the Trust and Natural Resources Wales, before getting stuck in with a hands-on rockpooling session by Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and free surf lessons from Outer Reef Surf School.

The sun shone for the festivities at the farm, too, with festival-goers enjoying a whole host of outdoor games, craft stalls and local food and drink. A packed programme of fantastic live music at the outdoor stage and barn attracted plenty of interest, with performances taking place from early afternoon right through until late evening.

Speaking about the successful event, National Trust Gupton Farm campsite manager Bethan Jones, said: “The Festival of the Sea is a new addition to our events calendar, so we’re really thrilled that so many people chose to join us for the coastal celebration and explore more of Freshwater West and Gupton Farm.

“It was fantastic to work in partnership with lots of local organisations to share our coastal connections and conservation work with visitors, and we’d like to thank everyone for their support.”

Gupton Farm remains open for camping until September 30, with the restored farmhouse available to let year-round.
