The sweet smell of success is surrounding 20-year-old Danielle Greep as she is crowned UK WorldSkills Aromatherapy Champion 2010.

Danielle, from Whitland, is the second Pembrokeshire College student this year to be crowned the best in the UK following in the footsteps of Steven Kokolin, who became the UK WorldSkills Welding Champion.

Outshining the competition with her advanced aromatherapy skills, Danielle beat seven other regional finalists to take home the title of UK WorldSkills Aromatherapy Champion 2010 at the competition held at Derby College in June.

As part of the competition, Danielle was required to provide a consultation, blend oils, perform a treatment, and offer aftercare advice demonstrating her practical skills whilst answering questions showing her extensive theoretical knowledge.

Danielle has been studying on the Level 3 Complementary Therapies course at the college since September and has already completed Level 1 and 2 Beauty Therapy.

Danielle is combining her studies with working at The Well Spa and can be sure that with this success on her CV the world of aromatherapy is at her feet.

Cath Chapman, complementary therapy tutor at the college, encouraged Danielle to enter the competition and commented: "Danielle has grown into an outstanding therapist, she thoroughly deserves to be crowned the UK champion.

"The quality of the treatments she carries out is exceptional and she shows maturity beyond her years when working in the salon. We are all incredibly proud of what Danielle has achieved."

Danielle added: "When I started college I never thought that I would end up becoming a UK champion. I've thoroughly enjoyed being at college and the tutors have been really supportive throughout the competition process. Competing put us all under a lot of pressure, but it was definitely worth it, I've learnt a lot of new skills which I'm sure will help me in the future."

Danielle, along with the other WorldSkills champions from the college, will attend a glitzy award dinner to be held in London in November and must now wait to see if she will go on to compete in the WorldSkills Championships next year, competing against beauty therapists from across the world.
