"You stare mother nature in the eye, usually she's fairly benign. And then she stands toe to toe with you and dares you. Go ahead, get your best equipment out. Let's dance."
The Age of Stupid is the new movie from director Franny Armstrong (McLibel) and producer John Battsek (One Day In September).
Oscar-nominated Pete Postlethwaite stars as a man living alone in the devastated future world of 2055, looking at old footage from 2008 and asking: 'Why didn't we stop climate change when we had the chance?'
It will be released in UK cinemas today (Friday), followed by other countries.
This cutting-edge film extravaganza, however, featured a simultaneous launch at 64 cinemas across the nation on Sunday, including the Torch Theatre in Milford Haven.
The thought-provoking film was introduced by Friends of the Earth Cymru director, Gordon James, and Andy Middleton, the St. David's Eco outdoors activity centre and environmental campaigner.
Andy is one of the 230 investors into the film which was produced independently with a crowd-funded budget of £450,000.
When asked why he got involved, he commented: "This film needed to be made. Franny Armstrong's (The Age Of Stupid director) passion and vision for the impact the film needed to have engaged me and the 230 other investors. It amazes me how big a gap there is between what we know is certain to happen and how we live our lives. The Age Of Stupid is the most powerful call to action that has ever been seen and uses humour and clever animation to make it."
It is showing at the Torch Theatre until March 23, miss it at your peril ...
