On Wednesday, September 5, three members of Tenby Floral Art Club travelled to Hereford to join NAFAS members from the Three Counties and South Wales to take part in the Hereford Cathedral Flower Festival.
The members, Jan Griffiths, Wendy Bell and Audrey Jones, are now used to travelling long distances, having taken part in Worcester, Gloucester, Tewksbury and Abergavenny. Their biggest accolade has been an invitation to apply for Chelsea. However, despite being successful, they declined the invitation due to the exorbitant cost to club.
This year the title allocated to them was 'Shades of Green', and under the direction of Jan, a very modern arrangement was done which, to their delight, was described by other arrangers, as "stunning."
Another local club, The South Pembroke Floral Art Society, also regulars at the festivals, were given the task of depicting the Sundial Garden at Highgrove House. They also chose a modern design, based on white and black, with a dramatic result.
Tenby Floral Club will be resuming their sessions this month and new members are welcome. The date will shortly be appearing in Dairy Dates or information can be had from members.
