The seventh annual FSB Pembrokeshire Branch Student Awards Dinner will be held at the Beggar's Reach Hotel, Burton on Friday, August 25. Each year the Pembrokeshire Branch award two Pembrokeshire College students with a framed FSB certificate and a bursary of £200 each. The students will have excelled in subjects related to small business and included the tourism and engineering sectors. This year, the Business, Leisure, Travel and Tourism Award went to Emma Ferrari. Emma has achieved a BTEC ND in Travel and Tourism and Emma's tutor has described her college work as being of a consistently high standard throughout the two-year course. The second student is Matthew Goldsmith, who achieved a Certificate in Engineering. Matthew has maintained a committed and conscientious attitude to his apprenticeship and college work. He was described by his tutor as a high achiever in both practical and academic fields. The framed certificates were presented to the two students by BBC television presenter Jamie Owen at the Pembrokeshire College Graduation Day held at St. Davids Cathedral last month. Mr. Stephen Cole, FSB Pembrokeshire county chairman, said: "The FSB consider it an honour and a privilege to reward two very deserving students. I sincerely hope that the two awards will continue to be presented every year in recognition of the efforts made by young students to business in Pembrokeshire. I also hope that this type of recognition will encourage students to stay in Pembrokeshire long after they have completed their studies." Pembrokeshire College and the Pembrokeshire branch of the FSB work closely together throughout the year, providing a good working relationship between the small business sector and the academic and further education sector. The FSB is also represented on the Pembrokeshire CCET, providing vital information to the education sector on training requirements of small businesses.
