Sir, At about 2.40 pm on Thursday, May 15, I was driving my wife's BMW in Narberth Road, Tenby, towards New Hedges. I had just crossed the Tenby border travelling out of the 30 mph into the 40 mph limit when a wheel and tyre assembly (possibly a wheel barrow wheel) flew off the back of a vehicle travelling towards me. I only had time to briefly apply my brakes before the whole thing hit my vehicle. At one point I thought it was coming through the windscreen, but it fell short, causing damage to the front of the car. I stopped and pulled up on the nearside, but nobody else did. Having said that, it was on a rather risky sweeping right-hand bend - probably why the wheel slid off the back of the other vehicle in the first place. My greatest concern is that this could have been far more serious, either for me or someone else. It may have gone through a windscreen; a motor cyclist, cyclist or pedestrian wouldn't have stood much chance.
