Tenby town councillors are to request that a proposed temporary closure to Crackwell Street in Tenby be brought forward to avoid traffic problems during the Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend.

Pembrokeshire County Council want the two week road closure to commence on Monday May 17, in order for excavation work to be carried out within the carriageway to repair a damaged section of sewer in the region of Pier House.

However, a two week closure from the given date would run over into the busy Bank Holiday weekend at the end of the month.

At a recent meeting, town councillors suggested it might be an idea to bring the road closure forward in order to complete the work before the Bank Holiday.

"A closure at that time would cause havoc in the area traffic wise, especially on a busy holiday weekend," said Clr. Mike Evans.
