Pembrokeshire County Council has launched a scheme to raise the profile of libraries with children.
Together with library book supplier, Holt Jackson, the authority sent a book bus to local schools so that the children could choose the types of books they would like to see appear in their local library.
The bus visited eight schools - Penally, Greenhill in Tenby, Narberth, Fenton and St. Mark's in Haverfordwest, St. Mary's RC in Pembroke Dock, Hakin Infants in Milford Haven and Fishguard Juniors.
At each school, pupils were asked to select books from the bus that they would read if they were available in their local library.
The children's recommendations were then ordered, and, once they were delivered to the libraries, each school was notified.
The children visited the libraries to see the new books they had chosen.
The council will be monitoring how these books are being used and how popular they are.
The authority hopes to repeat the project in September and January next year involving different schools and targeting different areas of stock.
