People in Pembrokeshire are being reminded of stop, chain, check advice.
The call comes after a distraction burglary in Crymych on Saturday between 4 and 5pm.
A man called on the elderly resident and asked if he had any unwanted batteries.
While he distracted the victim, a second man is believed to have entered the property and stolen a wallet containing a large quantity of cash.
People are being reminded to 'stop, chain and check' and not to let visitors into their home unless they are certain of their identity.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have had callers at their home asking for scrap metal and in particular batteries to contact DC Kite at Fishguard Police Station on 0845 330 2000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
