Sir,

I was pleased to see that Philip Baker's 'Guaranteed bus seats to Greenhill School' campaign had been partially successful in providing a bus seat for each child who requires one.

Unfortunately, he did not mention if these seats are fitted with seat belts.

I was also particularly interested in Philip Baker's comments regarding the dismissive response from our director of education, Mr. Gerson Davies, who refuses to disclose the criteria used to establish safe pedestrianation routes to school.

Also the failure to share the findings of risk assessment carried out in July.

Well, this is not the first time that Mr. Gerson Davies has failed to put his money where his mouth is. At the beginning of this year I was severely criticised by him, for campaigning for a safe route to school for the children of Jameston village.

Mr. Davies wrote to Manorbier Community council and stated that: he (Mr. Wales) should appraise himself of the respective responsibilities of the community council and the county council. I subsequently wrote to Mr. Gerson Davies and asked him to apprise me of these respective responsibilities of the community council and the county council. To date, I am still awaiting his reply as to what these responsibilities are; I suspect that our director does not know himself.

With reference to the so-called scrutiny committee, who will deal with the parents concerns, well all I can say is, don't hold your breath. Until such times that we see a return of true democracy at county hall, the only thing these parents who dare complain are likely to see from the scrutiny committee is a rubber-stamped version of Mr. Gerson Davies's dismissive response.

Tony Wales, North Norton, Manorbier.
