After an unbelievable run of 26 consecutive dry Saturday mornings, the Steps2Health walkers had to don waterproofs and carry umbrellas (writes B.S.).
Volunteer trained walk leader, Val Coates, was pleasantly surprised as the group gathering outside Somerfield grew steadily larger in spite of the miserably wet weather.
Underterred, we set off across the golf links path, happily splashing our way through the puddles swamping the path. The conditions had no effect on our spirits, for we were enjoying congenial company.
Even though the tide was out, it was a wet walk back across the beach as we sank into the all too soft sand. We almost had the beach to ourselves, for the bank holiday visitors were obviously keeping dry indoors or trying to find a parking space!
While enjoying a cup of coffee at The Dennis Cafe, we all agreed we had enjoyed what had been for us a lovely walk in the rain.
Steps2Health walks are managed by Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority as part of the all- Wales Walking the Way to Health Initiative.
So, if you would like to improve your well-being in a friendly atmosphere, join us tomorrow (Saturday) outside Somerfield for a 10.30 am start. The walks are free.
