Fortunately the weather was kind to the Steps2Health walkers on Saturday, enabling them not only to enjoy their walk, but also to enjoy a convivial time over coffee in the lovely garden of Val and Clive Church (writes B.S.).
Walks leader Barbara Morris outlined a slightly longer route for the brisk group who followed leaders Lyn and Janice along the South Beach to Black Rock, while the steady walkers went with Barbara and Val across the golf links path to Black Rock. After negotiating the busy paths through Kiln Park, the peaceful backwater of The Nabbs provided a sharp contrast.
But all roads led to Oakridge Acres, where the walkers very much appreciated the kind and generous hospitality of Val and Clive. Seated outside in the beautiful garden, everyone relaxed and enjoyed being entertained by regular walker Mike Ewing, who spun out lively tunes on his melodium.
Tomorrow (Saturday), the walkers plan to step across to Caldey for what has become an annual boat trip/walk. Meet at the Caldey kiosk 10 am. The cost is £8 OAP/ group rate. Bring a picnic or buy refreshments on the island.
