Saturday's Steps2Health walk around Bosherston lilyponds was a very special occasion (writes B.S.).
With walks leaders Janice, Penny, Lyn, Margaret, Barbara and Val who had also driven the minibus, over 30 people enjoyed the 23/4 mile circuit around the lily ponds where, if one had been light enough, it would have been possible to cross the water using the lilies as stepping stones, they were so thick.
But the highlight of the morning had to be the walkers' tribute to 'Auntie Vi' of Ye Olde Worlde Cafe. All had signed a card congratulating her not only on being awarded an MBE in the Honours List, but also congratulating her on her 88th birthday five days previously.
A bouquet was presented to Pembrokeshire's favourite aunt and, over cups of tea poured from the traditional large brown teapots, cameras clicked and few did not have happy memories to reminisce about of their first visit, mainly during childhood. The magic being that here is a special part of the world that has remained unchanged and true to itself.
Teacups were raised for the toast that Mrs. V. Weston may long continue to reign.
Tomorrow (Saturday) meet outside Sainsbury's 10.30 am for a local walk.
