Bridges under water at Bosherston Lily Ponds meant a change of venue for Saturday's Steps2Health walkers (writes B.S.).
It was fortunate that walks leader Val Coates-Rees received this information in time to re-arrange the weekly walk. Phone calls were made to walkers expected to meet at Stackpole Church and it is, indeed, hoped that no one did drive to Stackpole while the minibus was heading for Wiseman's Bridge. But probably not, as 30 walkers gathered at Wiseman's Bridge, which proved to be an ideal route not greatly affected by the week's snowy weather.
The excellent path up Pleasant Valley proved safe and, yes, pleasant all the way up to Stepaside. In the sunshine, one could almost feel spring was just round the corner.
The site of the old ironworks was quite muddy but, even so, many of the group opted to go 'over the top' to enjoy a longer route along the woodland paths.
Walks leaders Barbara, Janice, Penny and Lyn were also on hand and, fortunately, there were no mishaps in the mud.
After a good hour's walk in the countryside, it was then into Wiseman's Bridge Inn with its sea views to enjoy a convivial hour over coffee and an unlimited supply of biscuits.
And most were home before the heavy sleet showers of the afternoon set in.
Tomorrow (Saturday) meet outside Somerfield 10.30 am for a local walk.
