A bitter wind may have been blowing on Saturday, skies were leaden and the ground was muddy, but the Steps2Health walkers were undeterred by the deteriorating conditions (writes B.S.).

With their usual good humour, the walkers followed walks leader Val Coates-Rees out of town across the golf links path. Extremely muddy conditions were encountered at Kiln Park, but all came safely through to join the main road at the petrol station.

Now on firm pavements back to town, some walkers opted to take the Heywood Lane route back into Tenby, while others continued up Serpentine Road to reach The Norton via Narberth Road.

All continued up The Croft for a grandstand view of an unusually rough sea in North Bay. And once inside the Fourcroft Hotel, the wild scenery could be enjoyed in comfort through the lounge windows while refreshing ourselves with a plentiful supply of tea, coffee and biscuits.

Tomorrow (Saturday), our route takes us along Lady Caroline Cawdor's Walk. Drivers meet approximately 11 am at Stackpole Cheriton church car park. To find out if there are any vacant seats on the minibus leaving from outside Somerfield at 10.30 am, ring Val Coates-Rees on 843951.

The walk will end with refreshments at Bosherston's Olde Worlde Tearoom.

Drivers will not be expected to walk back to their cars! The minibus will ferry them back to the start point.
