It was the calm before the storm for the Steps2Health walkers on Saturday (writes B.S.).
Maybe it was because the weather forecast had given due warning that gales and heavy rain were to hit the area soon after midday, that over 40 walkers met up outside Somerfield, no doubt eager to make sure of some invigorating exercise and congenial company before battening down the hatches later in the day.
The sky certainly gave no hint of what lay ahead, as the group set off across the South Beach in brilliant sunshine. Those opting for a longer route followed walks leader Lyn Evans out to Penally, while walks leader Margaret Lewis led the rest across to Black Rock and then along the golf links path back into town.
But everyone ended up enjoying refreshments in the comfort of The Albany Hotel and most were still there well over an hour later and still chatting!
Tomorrow (Saturday) we hope for good weather as it is planned to walk along the coast path from Amroth (meet approx 10.45 at start of Old Cliff Road) to Saundersfoot.
The Silcox 351 bus leaves from outside Somerfield 10 am and the bus company has been warned to expect over 30 extra passengers!
Some drivers may prefer to board this bus at Saundersfoot, leaving their cars in the Regency car park.
