Journalists who are more intrepid than B.S. brave war zones and natural disasters to get their story but, as Saturday's Steps2Health group had the choice of two walks, the five-mile one has been recounted by walks leader Lyn Evans.

While a large group enjoyed a local walk with walks leaders Barbara Morris and Penny Evans, followed by a sociable time at the Friends of the Community Coffee Morning in Church House, 20 more of the group met at Marros Cross for the first 'progressive' five-mile walk by Steps2Health.

Lyn continues: The walk was led by walk leader Gill Cole and passed through amazing countryside, as it progressed to Marros Mountain and onto Morfabychan Bay.

On arrival, near to the beach, Gill explained that this beach was used to test the bouncing bomb that was used by the famous 'Dambusters'. The evidence of testing was still visible on the surviving fortifications.

Soon after moving on, we heard the sound of the post horn, followed by the local hunt, galloping across the beach. What a sight to behold!

Following the excitement of seeing the hunt, we started our climb to 'Upper Pendine', and as the saying goes, what goes up must come down, as we then decended to 'Lower Pendine' and the welcome sight of the cafe, for some well-earned refreshments.

Everyone really enjoyed this first 'long walk' and look forward to the next one in the New Year.

Also on the walk were walk leaders Janice, Lyn, Margaret and Val.

Tomorrow (Saturday) we meet as one group once again for a local walk starting from outside Somerfield at 10.30 am.

Apparently, there are three coffee mornings taking place, so we shall have to spread ourselves quite thinly to support them all. There is no truth in the rumour that the walk will be a 'coffee crawl' so we may enjoy them all!
