The Steps2Health walk on Saturday took the large group through a variety of different scenes (writes B.S.).

Leaving the town behind, we had the opportunity to admire immaculate gardens before crossing busy roads to access a centuries old track which took us into the heart of the countryside that lies on Tenby's doorstep.

For all the walks leaders it was a challenging route as they held up traffic to shepherd the long trail of walkers across roads and gave a helping hand over stiles and at some of the very muddy stretches.

We had reached the entrance to the Nabbs by way of Marsh Road, Tudor Way, Oakridge Acres and Heywood Lane.

If the path to Nabbs Bridge from The Clicketts was to be upgraded even just by the addition of some gravel, this ancient by-way would be an even more popular walk. Although not all that far distant from the road, it still retains the peaceful aura of a bygone age.

It was back to civilisation when the path ended opposite Kiln Park filling station. We continued through the caravan site to Black Rock where the group split into two. Some continued onto the South Beach, while the rest followed the golf links path back into town where everyone met up at The Albany Hotel in The Norton. Those pots of tea and coffee awaiting us were most welcome after the one-and-a-half-hour walk.

Please note: There is an alteration to the programme and tomorrow (Saturday) we will not be going to Haverfordwest. That walk will take place a week later on September 27.

Instead, we will meet outside Somerfield at the earlier time of 10 am to enable us to finish the walk at the harbour in time to greet the Grand Parade which heralds the start of Tenby Arts Festival.
