The more pessimistic Steps2Health walkers brought umbrellas and wore waterproofs on Saturday morning, but the dark clouds appeared more ominous than they proved to be (writes B.S.). Being split into two groups produces some friendly rivalry! Giltar was the goal, but group one would climb up the steep cliff, while group two would turn back at the breakwater. Barbara Morris and Val Coates-Rees led the way out of town to the beach along the golf links path. But Jill Cole, with backmarker Lyn Evans, was leading group two at a spanking pace and for a while we had delusions of overtaking the leaders! But it was not to be! It has to be admitted that some of group one actually arrived first at the Friends of the Community coffee morning in Church House, even though they had included the climb up Giltar to see the bluebells. It should be mentioned that the two senior members walk with group one. Tomorrow (Saturday) we will be doing part of the Miners Walk from Wiseman's Bridge. The Silcox bus leaves Somerfield at 10 am. Drivers meet approximately 10.30 am at Wiseman's Bridge.
