A cold biting wind and leaden skies did not deter 30 Steps2Health walkers on Saturday from following leader Val Coates-Rees out of town on a circular route round Kiln Park to Heywood Lane and back to a warming coffee (writes B.S.). There may have been last minute Christmas cards to write and gifts to wrap, but the stalwarts of the group believe in putting their walk first. Saturday mornings are for exercise and socialising. It was also good to welcome the two young grandchildren of Janice and Brian who joined us. Santa hats will be the uniform of the day tomorrow (Saturday) when we meet outside Somerfield at 10.30 am for a local walk. I do not know if there is any truth in the rumour that the walks leader for this occasion will be Father Christmas himself.
