Summer has certainly lingered on for the Steps2Health walkers (writes B.S.). Once again, their Saturday morning ended with refreshments al fresco. In a scene reminiscent of a summer day, nearly 40 members of the group relaxed at tables in the garden of Bosherston Olde Worlde Cafe to enjoy tea or coffee with homemade cakes or scones with jam and cream. An hour earlier, many cars had arrived plus a full mini-bus driven by Val Coates-Rees. Walks leader Margaret Lewis had chosen a perfect setting for this November walk. The circular route around the lily ponds was tranquil and peaceful in the autumn sunshine, yet bright with strings of red berries decorating the trees and a hillside glowing golden with gorse. When we reached Broadhaven beach, the tide was well out revealing a vast expanse of clean, white sand. No intrepid soul ventured in for a paddle. Maybe if the tide had been nearer? The relaxing walk continued up the western side of the ponds to end in a sociable hour at the cafe. Tomorrow (Saturday) we have a slightly earlier start time. Meet at Penally station car park 10.15 am. For those without transport, the Silcox 349 bus leaves from outside Somerfield 10.05 am. We hope for fine weather, once again, to enjoy the incomparable views on this Penally/Giltar circuit. Do join us. No charge!
