The Steps2Health walk on Saturday could not have ended on a more colourful and exotic note (writes B.S.). Walks leader Lyn Evans made sure the large group of walkers enjoyed an invigorating 40 minutes of exercise as they streamed across the golf links path to Black Rock, then turned left to access the South Beach. As everyone walks at their own pace, it was a well spaced procession that wended its way across the bracing beach to the harbour. Not such a long walk as usual, but the walkers did not want to miss the Grand Opening of Tenby Arts Festival. The weather being kind, we were able to relax after our walk with a coffee or cup of tea at the harbour while awaiting the arrival of the Grand Parade. We heard them coming long before we saw them as the ancient town reverberated to the rhythm of Samba Tawe. It was a colourful spectacle that swung into view. The sophisticated dancers commanded attention in their striking costumes of purple and white. And words are hardly adequate to describe the professionalism, agility and dedication of the Irish dancers. These young members of The Hynes School of Irish Dancing take one's breath away! A truly entertaining end to our walk. Tomorrow (Saturday) we will be catching the 10.30 am bus from outside Somerfield to reach our starting point at Kilgetty RAOB Club. We will then walk to Saundersfoot via quiet country roads and footpaths. This is a delightful, little known walk we did a few months ago. So do join us!
