If not quite so many of us turned up for Saturday's Steps2Health walk, there was very good reason for the absence of some of the regulars (writes B.S.). They were busy helping at the coffee morning in Church House to help fund the Steps2Health programme. While some of us set off with volunteer trained walks leader, Val Coates-Rees, the rest were having a hectic time taking admission money, selling raffle tickets (27 prizes no less!), manning a well stocked cake stall and, of course, plying to and fro with coffee and teas. Trying not to think of those working so hard in our interest, walkers enjoyed a 50-minute tour around Tenby. And, yes, the rain as usual, held off for us. The beauty of our local terrain is that routes can be easily adapted to suit all levels of fitness, but it is still a surprise for the front walkers to suddenly find someone from way back alongside them. So many short cuts! The walkers were pleased to see such a large crowd in Church House where the coffee morning was in full swing and, without too much conscience pricking, allowed themselves to be waited on by those who had forgone the walk! Tomorrow (Saturday) we look forward to a circular walk from Amroth through Colby Woodland Gardens. Drivers meet Amroth (free) car park 10.40 am. Or the bus leaves Somerfield 10 am (Tenby- Pendine bus 351). Alight at Amroth. For the return journey, the bus departs Amroth 13.13 pm. Any why not bring your camera on this walk as Colby Gallery is holding a photographic competition entitled The Colours of Colby. You can pick up further details at the gallery or ring 814200.
