The Steps2Health walkers could not have wished for better weather for their walk from Pembrokeshire to Carmarthenshire on Saturday (writes B.S.). Further evidence of global warming that the November sunshine was positively springlike? Val Coates-Rees drove a packed minibus of walkers to the start point at Amroth. Here we were joined by several car loads of more walkers who were also looking forward to some healthy exercise and a sociable hour. Volunteer trained walks leader, Barbara Morris, first showed us old photographs, circa 1931, of the row of cottages that had stood on the seaward side of the road before falling victim to the great storm. But today all was calm and peaceful for the walk along the seafront which begins in Pembrokeshire and ends in the neighbouring county of Carmarthen. So not too long a trek! Some walkers opted to walk across the beach, while some kept to the drier pavement. Staff at the Amroth Arms must have thought it was back to high summer when the bars filled up with walkers ready to enjoy a sociable chat over cups of coffee - or something stronger. Tomorrow (Saturday) we meet outside Somerfield for a 10.30 am start for a local walk. All are welcome. No charge!
