Yet another sunny Saturday morning presented ideal, if cold, conditions for the Steps2Health group whose weekly walk was to be followed by coffee and a Walkers Update in the Scout and Guide Hall (writes B.S.).

Quite a long procession of 27 walkers started off along the Parade to The Esplanade where it was good to see so many visitors enjoying the half-term autumn weather which gave clear views right across to Worms Head.

All the walkers continued down the zig-zag to access the South Beach. Reaching the Kiln Park turn-off, the group turned right to Black Rock and Kiln Park where they split into two.

Those going with walks leaders Paul Morris and Erica and Brian Ward took the lane to reach Marsh Road. It was then up station steps to Warren Street and the coffee venue.

The longer walk, with leaders Margaret Lewis, Janice Tooth and Val Coates-Rees, headed further out to join Marsh Road at the filling station and then back into town.

More members of Steps2Health, who are not walking at the moment for various reasons, were already at the Scout and Guide Hall where Barbara Morris had welcome cups of coffee waiting. Raffle tickets were on sale and the welcoming ambience of this attractive hall made for a sociable hour.

Paul Morris, vice-chairman of Pembrokeshire Steps2Health, began his update by making a presentation to Barbara Stredder who has been elected as an honorary member to have lifetime membership.

Paul went on to extol the benefits of walking regularly at least five times a week. He also introduced the idea of a personal emergency card attached to a lanyard.

Tomorrow (Saturday), a walk is planned at Templeton in the vicinity of the airfield. To find out if there are any vacancies on the minibus leaving Tenby at 10 am, ring Val on 843951. Drivers meet approximately 10.30 by Preseli Storage. For further directions, ring Paul 844845. Coffee will be at Crossvilla.
