Jane Davidson AM (Minister for Education and Life-Long Learning) from the National Assembly of Wales opened a new training centre in the heart of south Pembrokeshire last week.
PRP - a local Training Provider was indeed privileged by the attendance of Jane Davidson when she officially unveiled their new training facility at the 'grand opening last Wednesday.
In excess of 80 people attended the event in support of PRP and their achievements. Present were representatives from local and national businesses from differing industry segments and local support agency staff.
The day's celebrations gave way to a host of events, whereby both Jane Davidson and also Bernie George - head of Skills and Development from ELWa, spoke briefly on the importance of learning throughout life, and the role that PRP have helped to play in their support to the individuals that have enrolled with them to follow a particular learning direction.
Following the key speeches, the proceedings gave way to a rather unusual activity whereby the two directors for PRP had plaster cast impressions of their feet taken. For some, they would agree that the very nature of this was a symbolic gesture in taking those all-important necessary 'Steps to Your Future'.
This was later followed when the key officials took the time out to talk to current learners following varying programmes and course options run at the premises.
PRP's expansion would not have been possible without the assistance of an RSA Grant from the National Assembly of Wales, which was utilised to convert The Old Convent on Melville Street in Pembroke Dock to an up-to-date and state of the art User Friendly Training Centre.
The grant has furthermore given PRP the opportunity to increase the number of staff employed within the company to a staggering 32, which in turn will give them the capability to diversify into differing specialities and fields to help better serve the community at large.
The move is indeed seen as an expansion owing to the retention of their existing premises at Neyland.
Moving to the south of the county for PRP will, however, give them the ability to offer a further range of disciplines while at the same time target a catchment area that is often cut off from such services.
PRP are a leading West Wales Training Provider operating many Government funded programmes and topical commercial training packages.
Learners who enroll with PRP, can enjoy the comforts of a modern and relaxed training and learning environment with the added support from the highly qualified and trained staff at hand with occupational backgrounds to match their specialist field.
Throughout the passage of time the company has been operating over, the lives of so many people have been nurtured, enriched and developed and in 2001 alone, in excess of 341 people passed through the doors of PRP to take up the challenge of embarking on just one of the many programmes available to them.
