Stephanie Davies from Whitland, is preparing for the public vote on 'The Biz' live final, due to be screened at 7.30pm on Monday on BBC1 Wales.
One of just five new business start ups chosen to be tracked for a year by BBC Wales, Stephanie's day nursery in Haverfordwest 'Little Darlings' is about to come head to head with the four other businesses that have made up the popular reality TV show, 'The Biz'.
A Welsh Development Agency initiative aimed at encouraging all people in Wales to see starting their own business as a real life option, 'The Biz' is culminating in a live TV final to find just one winner.
With just one minute to convince the public why they should win, the 30-minute slot on prime time TV will see the finalists facing a live studio audience, made up of some of Wales' most influential business people - not to mention all the viewers at home.
The winner will walk away with a cheque for £10,000.
Stephanie decided to get into business when her husband's livelihood as a farmer was tragically affected by the foot and mouth outbreak in 2001. With little income and six children to care for it was do or die.
Her children are aged 18 months to 18 years and it is her experience as a mother that she wants to bring to a nursery. Seeing the empty premises of a former nursery inspired her to look into the idea and market research led her on.
Stephanie put out one advert for the new facilities and received 38 replies. It confirmed her experiences.
She also employed a canny business sense in the timing of her venture. New laws in the standards of childcare mean that Stephanie's nursery was one of the first that could advertise as being compliant with the new standards.
'Little Darlings' is Stephanie's first business venture but she's sure the audience will have fun watching a mother try to juggle family life with such an ambitious project.
By the end of the year she hoped the nursery would employ four staff, caring for up to 17 children from six weeks to three years. As she says, "I want to run the kind of place I would be happy for my own kids to go to."
