Class four of Stepaside CP School have been working on an exciting and original art project, under the direction and guidance of artist Sonja Dawn Flewitt. The project is to celebrate and promote the cultural connections that exist between Wales and Ireland. The first stage involved the children making video recordings of a message to their contempories across the Irish Sea. Only their mouths were filmed during the message which concentrated on their own personal ambitions and hopes for the future. The second stage involved making a mould of the children's lips which will be eventually cast in aluminium by Sonja. The final stage is to fit all the moulds together into a giant sculpture that will be situated at Rosslare Harbour. A similar sculpture of Irish children will be placed at Fishguard harbour.
