Infants Sports
Stepaside CP School held their infants sports on Tuesday, June 24. An enjoyable afternoon was had amidst blazing sunshine by all who attended, parents, friends and family alike.
Members of the school governing body and Friends of Stepaside School supported the afternoon and helped with refreshments and stalls. Rosemary Tippett Maudsley presided over events and presented the winning shields to successful competitors.
Father Robin Webley saw fair play was carried out, assisting as line judge.
Deputy head, Mrs. Kath Owen, thanked parents and friends for their support in making the afternoon such a success. She congratulated the winners and thanked all the children for their excellent efforts and emphasised the importance of taking part - reminding them that there would be no competition without the whole school participating.

Junior Sports
Stepaside CP School held their second Sports Day event last week. Mr. Peter Griffiths, headteacher, opened the proceedings.
This time it was the Juniors' turn.
Once again, pupils, staff, governors, parents and friends had an enjoyable afternoon either participating or watching the track events.
A few clouds brought a welcome relief to the day's heat and to the participants' mounting tension, as the Juniors entered their races with enthusiasm and determination, either for personal glory or to gain points for their houses.
House scores from the field events, held earlier in the week, were very close indeed, but added to the day's track events and to the Infants results. Grove House just kept the lead, with Rosslyn a close second, and Merrix third.
A huge thank you goes to Father Robin Webley, for maintaining his constant encouragement to all participants throughout their races, as well as presenting the prizes at the end.
Many thanks also to all those who helped the afternoon run so smoothly, and to the Friends of the School for their refreshments and cakes tables.
