IF you have always wanted to learn how to paint, now is the time to start. This year's programme of day workshops includes classes for complete beginners.
Graham Hadlow, formerly head of art at Greenhill School and known far and wide for his superb watercolour paintings, offers a beginners' watercolour class to suit anyone who has not picked up a paint brush since they left school, except perhaps to paint the house!
Careful understanding tuition in a small group of others who are in the same boat is the ideal way to start and who knows where it might lead.
An alternative to watercolour is offered by Arthur Lewis. A graduate at Cardiff Art College, and previously an art teacher at Pembroke School, Arthur offers a day workshop for complete beginners in use of pastel.
Pastel is a fine soft chalky medium which can produce some superb results even for beginners and Arthur's carefully structured introduction is an excellent way to start.
For those who are already painting, but have got into a bit of a rut and could do with some new ideas, Peter Rossiter offers a session entitled 'Freeing Up', consisting of a series of individual and group de-inhibiting exercises that are certain to excite and stimulate the creative flow. Dare to be different. Come and join the group.
Other classes in the programme include Watercolours with Barry Herniman and Rod Williams, Monoprinting with Susan Sands, Oil Painting with Paul Stokle, Ink Resist and painting over tissue paper with Sally Millican and more classes with Graham Hadlow and Arthur Lewis.
All the artists who are tutoring classes at Art Matters also have work on show in the gallery.
