A Pembrokeshire dance troupe won a host of medals and trophies at the recent European Country Western Dance Championships.
The Starliners from Carew were among over 300 dancers at this 10th annual event, held at Brean Sands Holiday Centre, Somerset, and proudly returned home with individual and team successes.
Tyler Kendall-Day was third in the final of the division four junior team class, where Katie Johnson reached the semi-finals. The group's dance instructor, Beck Bevans, made the semis of the teenage division. With her cousin, Ben Evans, of Ammanford, she achieved second place in the couples and with her sister Gemma, reached the semi-finals of the duo/partner.
Tyler and Gemma came fourth in both couples and partners, with Beck and Katie sixth in the partners.
These dancers were joined by Tessa Burke, Gemma Edwards, Jenny Winfield and Penny Young to take third place in the team category, and these eight, together with Ben Evans and Kayleigh Thomas, came fourth in the cabaret class with their version of 'Grease.'
Starliners, trained by Sharon Bevans, holds a class at Carew Memorial Hall every Wednesday between 4 and 6 pm, and will also be dancing at several charity events this year.
They are also looking forward to entering the London Classics in August, which is a qualifier for the CWDC World Championships in the USA in May 2005.
