The annual Brunel Festival charity concert was held for the first time in the new Community School hall in Neyland. Mrs Griffiths, head teacher, welcomed everyone for the first community concert to be staged in the hall since the opening of the school.
The Neyland Ladies Choir, led by Lynne Kelleher and accompanied by Peter Griffiths, opened the programme with one of the new items from their repertoire ,'Another Opening, Another Show'.
Also taking part were two young duettists, Marged and Ffion from Preseli School, whose beautiful voices captured the audience with a mix of Welsh and English pieces, followed by Marged performing two items on the harp - 'Favourite Things' and 'Pedwar O'r walt o'r Gymru'.
The girls will be appearing on S4C in the autumn on the popular Welsh programme 'Noson Lawen'.
Highlight of the evening was Welsh tenor, Trebor Edwards, who performed a couple of old favourites - 'If I only had time' and 'One day at a time' - together with traditional Welsh and English songs which received rapturous applause from the appreciative audience.
The choir complemented the evening with a varied programme, also introducing another new piece from the musical 'Phantom of the Opera', which Lynne promised was just a taster for the choir's forthcoming 35th anniversary concert at the Torch Theatre on November 2.
Concluding the concert, the ladies joined Trebor Edwards in a rendition of 'Love Changes Everything', which received a standing ovation.
Lynne thanked the guests and the audience for making the evening a huge success and also Gareth Hopkins, of the Brunel Festival Association, for arranging the concert. The proceeds will be distributed to local charities.
