Tenby Police recently received a complaint from an elderly resident claiming she had received a telephone call from an unknown source purporting to be from a High Street Bank requesting her bank account details and numbers. She refused to supply the details and it is probable that the call was an attempt to steal money from her account. "The public must be alert to this scam," said Insepctor Les Clark. "The best advice I can give is this: do not divulge bank account numbers, pin numbers or passwords over the phone unless you are 100 per cent certain that the person you are dealing with is legitimate. "Remember, identity theft is a fast growing form of crime, but one of the best ways to protect yourself is to not divulge personal information and to be careful when disposing of personal documents etc."
