Shrove Tuesday at Penally Church
This year's coffee morning organised by the social committee will be different.
The late Leslie Edwards, who loved Penally village and lived there many years and was a member of St. Nicholas and St. Teilo's Church, collected many historic documents relating to village life. This will be of considerable interest to local residents always learning about the villages and this area.
The familiar 'Bring and Buy' stall, cake stall and raffles will be there and a warm welcome too. The coffee morning is in the Church Room from 10 am - 12 noon.
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and there will be an opportunity to meet over coffee after the 10 am Eucharist.
Celebrating St. David
Penally senior citizens are eagerly looking forward to an enjoyable traditional lunch together to celebrate St. David. This important occasion is on February 26, at 12.30 for 1 pm, and is organised by Doreen Axon and the senior citizens committee.
Penally church choir one year on!
It is a year now that members of Penally Church Choir first met, directed by Diana Lunn. They meet regularly on Tuesday evenings in the Church Room at 7.30 pm.
They recently celebrated their being together at a festive dinner at Trefloyne Golf Club. During this happy event, John Bevan, on behalf of the choir, paid tribute to Diana, her leadership and training. Valerie Bevan presented a bouquet and the ladies received red roses.
Team vicar Michael John, the children and the choir led the worship at the 'All Age' service in February. The choir sang a traditional Caribbean blessing as well as a traditional Jewish song 'When the Spirit of the Lord'.
Team vicar Michael John said that during the past year, the forming of the choir had made a significant contribution to the life of Penally Church. The choir is now rehearsing music for Lent and Easter. New members of all abilities are always welcome. Contact Diana Lunn on (01834) 845277.
