Last week, Tenby Soroptimists and friends gathered at the Giltar Hotel for a most enjoyable musical evening in aid of local charities.
SI Tenby president, Dr. Anne Kelly, was delighted to welcome St. Mary's Youth Choir, who provided a lively programme of musical entertainment, with a little help from St. Mary's Junior Choir mistress and assistant organist, Mrs. Judy Davies, and St. Mary's musical director, Dr. John Harrison.
Firstly the guests and performers enjoyed a feast of hot beverages, mince pies and confectionaries in the comfortable downstairs lounge bar at the Giltar Hotel.
The talented Youth Choir, consisting of Rhiannon, Holly, Ella and Bethan, then sang a number of well-known tunes and carols, encouraging audience participation.
After that, the audience enjoyed a number of solo recitals, including a viola piece by Ella, a trombone solo by Rhiannon and an enthralling performance by guest artist Martha on the violin.
Holly and Bethan also charmed the audience with their soloist vocal presentations. Finally, the choir reconfigured to give a delightful rendering of a Christmas carol.
All agreed that it had been a lovely start to the festive season, especially as proceeds from ticket sales, the raffle and the various stalls raised a considerable amount for local charities.
On behalf of the club, SI president Dr. Anne Kelly would like to thank SI Tenby social secretary Eleanor Parker for all her hard work in organising the event, Malcolm, Patrick and their staff at the Giltar Hotel for the excellent hospitality and, of course, Mrs. Judy Davies, Dr. John Harrison and the St. Mary's Youth Choir for providing such a superb musical entertainment.
SI Tenby meet on the first Tuesday of every month at 7.30 pm at the Giltar Hotel.
The Rev. Alex Grace will be the guest speaker at the December meeting - new members and guests are always welcome.
