Just in time for Christmas, St. Mary’s Sundayfunday Club are pictured after making their Christingles and they then explained to the congregation in their own words all about the decorated oranges and that the candle represents the light of Christ in the world. The very young amongst them also sang a Christingle chorus.

Sundayfunday Club are all preparing to perform The Nativity on Christmas Eve in St. Mary’s Church at 10 am.

St. Mary’s Sundayfunday Club and CYC Youth Club are seen after Bishop Joanna’s visit to confirm Josh, Ellie P, Ellie D, Melanie and William. After enjoying the Bishop’s company, she was presented with gifts of a carved hinged box from Sunday Club for her ring and a carved wooden plate with splashes of red and gold from CYC Youth Club. Bishop Joanna was absolutely delighted with these and said that she would be using them both straightaway!

Then a cheque for £140, which all the children had collected this year for PATCH, was presented to Tracy and Jan from the organisation, who then picked up all the toys which had been so kindly donated by the congregations of St. Mary’s and many of the other benefice churches. They were helped by the Youth Club to load them all in their van, ready for Christmas delivery.

Last Sunday, some of St. Mary’s Church busy Sundayfunday Club children sang at Deer Park Baptist Church candlelight service. They sang Away in a Manger beautifully whilst holding colour changing tea lights and were accompanied by Katie and Nan on their guitars.
