The hymn To God Be The Glory, accompanied by Judy Davies, opened the meeting on Tuesday, May 20. Joy Griffiths then led the Mothers' Union service. Enrolling member Pat Davies then welcomed new member Margaret Ladd, before welcoming speaker for the afternoon John Bevan who spoke on Dylan Thomas. He started by saying this year, Dylan Thomas was born 100 years ago in Swansea and he is mostly known for the well-known Under Milk Wood, and he read a passage from this. He also read one of his poems Fern Hill the Farm, an extract from one of his stories, Visit to Grandpa's, and he ended with the well-known Rev. Eli Jenkins Prayer. During the afternoon, he was helped as an extra by Suzanne. A very enjoyable after noon was had by all and this was said by Joy Griffiths in her vote of thanks. During the afternoon, The Rector, Rev. Andrew Davies, and Rev. Alex Grace were presented, on behalf of the branch, with a quilt which all members had helped to make. This was presented by Alma Lloyd, Pearl Thomas and Mair Marquiss as a gift for their forthcoming marriage. The afternoon ended with tea and cakes.
