On Tuesday afternoon, members met for their usual afternoon meeting. Enrolling member Ellen led the short service, while Mrs. Mary Penson read the portion of scripture.

In the short business meeting that followed, apologies for absence were received from Mrs. Irene Burnley, Mrs. Gwen Richards, Mrs. Pope and Mrs. Onagh Holland.

Members were reminded that payment for the posies for the Flower Festival was now due. On May 30, a Table Top sale will be held in Church House from 10-12. Anyone wishing to have a table space is asked to contact Mrs. Jenkins. Coffee and delicious bacon baps will be on sale that day.

Payment is now due for the day trip to Bath on May 29. There are a few seats available on the bus, and anyone wishing to travel should contact Vena or Suzanne.

There will be committee meeting in Church House on May 10 at 7 pm.

The guest speaker, the Rector, was welcomed by Ellen. The afternoon took the form of a question and answer session. The questions ranged from church matters to current affairs and proved a most enjoyable session.

Mrs. Betty Caswell thanked the Rector for his courage and for stimulating the members to ask some very interesting questions.

Refreshments were served by Mrs. Joan Shepherd, Mrs. Hilary Morgan and Mrs. Dilys Hole.

The next meeting will be on May 15 at 7 pm when Mr. W. Snelgrove will be the guest speaker, and his subject 'Pepys Diary'.
