A service to remember the victims of the Holocaust and other genocides since, will be held at St. Mary’s Church, Tenby, tomorrow (Saturday), at 10 am. The service will have a mixture of video testimony, readings, a service of prayer and reflection, and a minute’s silence to remember the victims.
The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust has given the theme this year: The power of words. We will be using words to remember what has happened in recent history in order to be able to say and commit to, ‘Never Again!’ All are welcome to this service!
Holocaust Memorial Day is the day for everyone to remember the millions of people murdered in the Holocaust, under Nazi persecution and in the subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
Last year, over 7,700 local activities took place across the UK to mark Holocaust Memorial Day, with people coming together in civic halls, public spaces, libraries, cinemas, workplaces, schools and universities.
Holocaust Memorial Day in the UK is supported by Holocaust Memorial Day Trust.
Olivia Marks-Woldman, chief executive of the trust, said: “On Holocaust Memorial Day we honour the survivors of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides and challenge ourselves to learn important lessons from their experiences in order to create a safer, better future. This year we have an unprecedented number of activities taking place involving people of all ages and from all walks of life, challenging us all to think about what happens after genocide and of our own responsibilities in the wake of such a crime.”

Footnote: Rev. Joel Barder says he would be interested to know if there are any Holocaust survivors in the area.
“I do not know of any, but there may well be,” he said.
