Despite the inclement weather this summer, the judges of the annual St. Mary Out Liberty In Bloom competition were still very impressed with the high quality of gardens on display this year. Again they had a difficult task in choosing the winners, but results of the competition (kindly sponsored by New Hedges Postr Office and Mini Market) were as follows: Most colourful garden: J. John, 12 Lake Drive. Best senior citizens garden: Mr. R. Phillips, Park View, Rowston Drive. Best window boxes, tubs, hanging baskets: Gareth Brace, 4 Highgrove. Best water feature: Geoffrey Brace, 15 Lake Drive. Best novice class: Mrs. D. Lewis, Highbury, Broadfield. Best trade premises: Well Park Caravans. Tallest sunflower, under 11 yrs: Casey Brace, 15 Lake Drive. Basket, tub, or window box, over 11, under 16: Erin Cripps, 12 Lake Drive. Best estate: Lake Drive.
