Among matters considered and discussed at the June meeting of St. Mary Out Liberty Community Council were the following:

Matters arising

Clr. Rob Thomas advised that he had made enquiries with reference to the contact at the county council for assistance with playing field drainage.

He awaited confirmation of the contact and would advise the clerk as soon as the information was available.

Planning applications

Park House Court - extension to existing healthcare to provide 132 care units. Notice of the inspector's inquiry at Pembroke on this was noted.

County Clr. Jon Preston's report

Civic amenities site - Brooklands: Following the site visit by members of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, their case officer released the recommendation regarding this application. The recommendation was for refusal.

The report was an extensive 60-page document. The content (in Clr. Preston's opinion) was an overwhelming compilation of planning issues opposing this development.

The determination would be made on June 19 when members would vote either to approve or refuse the application.

Taking into account the quite substantial planning and moral opposition, Clr. Preston said he could not see how any member of the committee would be able to support the application.

Tenby MIU: Clr. Preston recently attended a meeting at Tenby Town Council chambers along with other local councillors and Dr. Kelly and Dr. Griffiths of Tenby Surgery.

The purpose of the meeting was to speak with Hywel Dda director for Pembrokeshire, Mrs. Susan Lewis.

Dr. Griffiths provided an overview of the minor injuries facilities needed to support our community and the influx of visitors.

"I and other councillors are of the opinion that the health board is out of touch with the needs of Tenby and Saundersfoot which now has an almost continuous tourist population which peaks at points throughout the year," reported Clr. Preston.

"The decision regarding the MIU will eventually be made by the Welsh Minister for Health at which time Mrs. Lewis would again meet with councillors and local doctors to discuss a way forward.

"Unfortunately, Saundersfoot Medical Centre was not represented on this occasion.

"The meeting concluded with a commitment by the health board to maintain minor injuries facilities at Tenby until a suitable alternative level of cover was in place.

"The fight to save the MIU is still very much alive and I hope with the continued valuable work carried out by SEPCHN we will be able to maintain the MIU building as a key medical facility in this area," his report concluded.

Council Vacancy

The clerk advised that he had contacted Pembrokeshire County Council to inform them of Clr. Morris's resignation.

As a result, he had been requested to display a notice advertising the council vacancy for the statutory period.

The county council would advise accordingly in due course.

Village Matters

The problem of litter within the village appeared to have improved since the mechanical road sweeper had been operating.

Parcel of Land near Trevayne lane

Due to the recent dry weather, there had been a delay in resolving this matter.

Mr. Brace was requested to complete the works as soon as possible, and was given permission to hire the equipment needed to complete the work.

Seat near

Village Hall

The clerk reported that he had received notice that the seat was in poor condition.

After a general discussion, it was agreed that all the seats in the ownership of the council should be examined, and the necessary refurbishment works carried out.

The clerk advised that as soon as the information was available he would contact the county council to seek assistance with the drainage issue at the Playing Field and Village Hall.

Correspondence

The news letter was circulated from AM Rebecca Evans, Receipts were noted from AON, from PALC, and from Council Direct.

The chairman read a letter advising of the meetings of Hywel Dda Health Board, which were noted. The clerk agreed to display the posters from PAVs.

Notice of forthcoming courses from One Voice Wales was noted.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

It was reported that members of the public were concerned and frightened by dogs when they walked on the public footpath nearby.

The clerk agreed to contact the Pembrokeshire County Council dog warden to seek advice.

The next meeting of the council will be on Tuesday, July 8, at 6.30 pm.
